Keeping your booth safe from theft
Shows don't insure your goods, so protecting them is on you, above all when the booth is unattended. These rules come from each show's own 2027 rules or the LVCC facility guide, named in each rule.

What to know
- The show isn't liable for theft
Vision Expo 2027's manual says RX takes no responsibility for loss, damage or theft, which falls on the exhibitor, so it requires every exhibitor to carry insurance. Guards cover entrances and exits around the clock and patrol after hours, but that's no guarantee for merchandise left unsecured overnight.

- ACT Expo 2027: same rule
ACT Expo's rules say show management is not responsible for the loss, theft or damage of exhibitor property.

- Habits that prevent theft
Vision Expo's security advice: unpack product as close to opening as possible, cover display tables at the end of each day, never leave laptops, phones or bags unattended, put nothing of value in containers marked empty, use coded labels instead of listing contents on cartons, and stay at the booth after the show closes until everything is repacked. Hire your own guard for one-of-a-kind prototypes.

- Guard your badges
Vision Expo asks exhibitors to give exhibitor badges only to their own full-time employees, wear them during move-in, show days and move-out, and take them out of the building on the last day, since badges left in booths or on the floor get misused.

- CES 2027: product leaves only with an exhibitor
At CES 2027, only exhibitors may remove equipment or product from the show floor, and they must show their exhibitor badge, a photo ID and a business card to the guard on the way out. Attendees may never carry product off the floor.

- LVCC: only licensed booth guards
At the LVCC, booth guards must come from a state-licensed, EAC-approved company, and your own staff or other unlicensed people can't do security work. Guards carry written authorization from their employer with the dates and times of the assignment, and exhibitors using them file the Armed Security Guard form.

- Your liability policy may not cover inventory
JOGS provides no insurance for exhibitors and isn't liable for loss, theft or damage. It recommends coverage that includes move-in and move-out, notes that general liability doesn't cover jewelry, gemstones or inventory, and strongly recommends separate inventory (inland marine) insurance.
