Booth types and how high you can build
How tall you can build depends on your booth type, your show's rules and the hall you land in, and two shows in the same building can differ. These rules come from the CES 2027, World of Concrete 2027 and MJBizCon 2026 exhibitor documents to show the range. Your own show's manual has the final word.

What to know
- Know your booth type first
Height rules hang on booth type. A linear (inline) booth has neighbors on both sides and is most often 10 by 10 feet. A corner booth is a linear booth at the end of a row. A perimeter booth backs onto an outside wall. Peninsula booths (aisles on three sides) and island booths (aisles on all four) start at 400 sq. ft., or 20 by 20 feet.

- Line of sight is not universal
Many shows keep the front of a linear booth low so attendees can see your neighbors. MJBizCon 2026 is a line-of-sight show: full height only in the back half of the booth, and nothing over 3 feet in the front half. Breaking sightlines can cost a fine or priority points.

- CES lets small booths use the whole cube
CES 2027 drops line of sight for small booths: a linear booth can build to 8 feet across its entire footprint. Corner booths are also capped at 8 feet, and perimeter booths can go to 12 feet.

- Same building, different limits
World of Concrete 2027, also at the LVCC, keeps classic line of sight: in a 10 by 10 booth the back 5 feet can go to 12 feet but the front 5 feet stop at 4 feet. Its island booths can build displays and hanging signs to 26 feet, and equipment and product have no height limit.

- A taller back wall can cost extra
At MJBizCon 2026, back walls up to 10 feet are free. From 10 to 14 feet there is an $800 height fee if arranged in advance, or $1,000 if it is caught onsite, and inline booths over 14 feet aren't allowed at all.

- Or buy the height as a percentage
PPAI Expo 2027 sells extended height for 12% of your space cost: linear and corner booths go from 8 to 10 feet, islands from 16 to 22 feet. Hanging signs over islands carry the same 12% fee.

- Island height depends on the hall
Even large booths have a ceiling set by the hall. For CES 2027 islands of 400 sq. ft. or more, the limit (including truss and hanging signs) is 30 feet in the LVCC West and North Halls and Central Halls 3 to 5, 22 feet in South Hall and 20 feet in Central Halls 1 and 2.

- Only big booths hang signs
At CES 2027 only island and peninsula booths of 400 sq. ft. or more may hang signs. Linear and perimeter booths can't, even when they are larger than 400 sq. ft.

- Finish the back of anything tall
Any part of your display that rises above or extends past the booth behind or beside you must be finished with paint or drape at your expense, and every side facing an aisle must be finished. At CES, double-sided signs and graphics on a split island must sit 10 feet back from the neighboring booth.

- Vision Expo 2027: unfinished walls get draped for you
At Vision Expo 2027, every exposed wall must be draped or finished, no graphics or logos may face into another booth, and in-line and peninsula booths need a finished back wall, not a see-through one. After 5 PM on March 10, 2027, show management drapes any unfinished side or back wall at the exhibitor's expense.

- Build a little smaller than your space
MJBizCon 2026 asks that any side of your structure next to another exhibitor be 3 inches less than your booth space, to leave room for the dividing drape and the utility cables between booths.

- Islands bring their own floor
At MJBizCon 2026, island booths come with no drape or carpet, and every booth must cover the concrete floor of its whole space with carpet or other flooring it orders or brings.
